Q1 2009 Ratings: FNC Tops CNN and MSNBC Combined in Prime Time Total Viewers

Fox News Channel was the 2nd highest rated cable channel on all of television during the first quarter of 2009 in prime time Total Viewers. CNN was 17th and MSNBC 24th for the first three months of the year. FNC beat CNN and MSNBC combined and gained the most compared to Q1 '08, up 24%.

    Q1 '09 was FNC's 3rd highest rated quarter in prime time in the network's history — behind Q4 '08 and Q3 '05.

In prime time A25-54 demo, and in total day in both categories, FNC grew more year-to-year than CNN and MSNBC.

FNC had nine of the top 10 programs on cable news in Total Viewers.

As reported earlier, The O'Reilly Factor has now been #1 on cable news for 100 consecutive months, up 27% in Total Viewers year-over-year.

Glenn Beck has increased the 5pmET time period 90% in Total Viewers and 115% in the demo vs. Q1 '08, and is the fastest growing program in cable news for March. Special Report with Bret Baier is up 39% in Total Viewers and 41% in the demo. "Hannity" is up 36% in Total Viewers and up 35% in the demo since going solo for the hour.

Those three new programs beat CNN and MSNBC combined in Total Viewers during their respective time slots.

Awesome! I love watching Glenn Beck and Special Report back-to-back. It's the best part of my day. Congratulations, FOX News!

Terroristic Embezzlement by the democrats, and oh by the way......THE WAR ON TERROR is to oust the political criminals by using the world media in this beautifull unedited media source called cyberville. As an non-government individual,I contain soft power to spread transparency and fairness world wide to all media... includind al-jazeera, and arab networks to show the hypocricy of so-called patriots. Fight to the death,to get the republicans back in power. Sincerely, Zzzoney zzzoney@gmail.com

The Fox news channel is tops. They are fair and balanced in comparison to the MSM. Fox news always shows both sides of story. Plus, you have an all-star cast-Hannity, Glenn Beck, Bret Baier, Bill O'Reilly and Chris Wallace. OOOps if I missed someone. FOX's ratings are an example of there expertise. More people are turning to Fox news because of Obama. People are unhappy with him and the love Obama media.Since Fox tells the whole truth, they are heading straight over to Fox. I LOVE FOX NEWS CHANNEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I watch Fox News almost every day and am behind it 100%. The WHOLE truth, though, is that even the best cable news programs still have less than 5 million viewers compared to the liberal and often misleading "60 Minutes" which has over 14 million viewers. HEY FOX - PUT A PROGRAM ON YOUR NON-CABLE CHANNEL TO BEAT 60 MIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE WORLD NEEDS BALANCE!

Bret, watch you every evening after Beck, while I was listening tonight couldn't help but hear everyone talking about the pirate situation. How about "Q" ships which were used in WW2, looks like a cruise ship however they are loaded for BEAR! As for the government listening in on my telephone calls. LET THEM I have nothing to hide, only the ones who have a problem with it are those that have something to hide. Thanks Lynn Nieto NC
