Lies, spies and ....summits

Seven Democratic members of the Intelligence Committee wrote CIA director Leon Panetta a letter to ask him to "publicly correct"  a statement he made saying that it is not " the policy or practice of the agency to mislead Congress."  The Democrats say Panetta told Congress that senior CIA officials concealed actions and misled lawmakers on more than one occasion beginning in 2001. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who has been at the center of her own controversy about accusing the CIA of lying, said she expects the members who wrote the letter to further pursue the allegations....James Rosen has the details of this developing story.  Is it just politics?  Is there something to the charge that the CIA lied about a program that was ongoing since 2001?  And does it have anything to do with the Intelligence Authorization Bill that is on the House floor today.. that President Obama has threatened to veto because it includes a provision that covert operations must be briefed to the whole Intell committees in the House and Senate.. and not just the "Gang of Eight" - the leaders of both parties in both chambers..and the leadership of the committees. 

     A Fox News Exclusive..  Catherine Herridge has obtained a book published by Al-Qaeda titled "Guide to the Laws Regarding Muslim Spies," that begins with an introduction by Ayman Al-Zawahri. The 150 page book demonstrates how effective the predator drone campaign has been in unnerving Al-Qaeda.  It's an interesting read... and US officials say it IS authentic.

Major Garrett continues his travels with President Obama and is in L'Aquila Italy for the G8 Summit. The President acknowledged the state of the economy make it difficult to come to an agreement on international climate change, but at a forum with leaders from around the world President Obama said they must "fight the temptation toward cynicism" and move forward.  What does this mean for the US economy?  And if India and China are not on board.. does it matter?

A summit was held today on how to prepare the nation for in case there is a more severe outbreak of the H1N1 virus in the future....Administration officials say vaccinations for the H1N1 virus (the swine flu) should be ready this fall...Wendell Goler has that story and Molly Henneberg takes a look why natural gas is not a viable option for smaller consumer vehicles despite the fact that it is better for the environment.
