News conferences, defense umbrellas and....concealed weapons

President Obama is holding a prime-time press conference this evening to continue his attempts at convincing Congress and the American people to move forward on the Democrats' version of health care reform. Polls are showing people are growing skeptical of the President's (and Congressional Democrats') health care plan--You can tune into FOX News Channel at 7:55pm for a live broadcast of the event and Wendell Goler has a preview for us tonight on Special Report.

James Rosen continues his trip with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton--Secretary Clinton spoke at a televised town hall forum in Bangkok and said the United States is going to assist Middle East allies to boost their defenses against Iranian nuclear threats. She also added,  "If the U.S. dataextends a defense umbrella over the region, we do even more to support the military capacity of those in the Gulf, it's unlikely that Iran will be any stronger or safer."  That statement sent chills up the spines of Israeli leaders - who put out statements of concern -- suggesting that the Obama administration is now conceding that Iran will get a nuclear weapon.  Clinton later walked the statement back.. but, it opens up a lot of questions about administration policy toward Iran's nuclear program.. we'll discuss in the panel as well.

Molly Henneberg is follwing the concealed weapon amenedment in the defense authorization bill --The Senate has voted down a proposal that would have allowed certain gun owners to carry concealed weapons across state lines.  The politics behind this vote.. are pretty interesting.

The panel this evening is Charles Krauthammer, Mara Liasson and Steve Hayes discussing health care and the Iran comments by Secretary Clinton--  we WON'T have an online show tonight because of the news conference.. but, we'll be back next week.   Thanks for tuning in!!!

Great show last night. My husband and I record your show and watch it during dinner sometimes, or right after. We really enjoy it. Thanks for continuing the high standards of Brit Hume!

Government Health Insurance Program is no bargain. The health insurance program is said to cost over $1 trillion. I figured if there are 300 million Americans and 10% is un-insured or about 30 million Americans. It is said the congressional health program would include only 70% of the uninsured American. So the congressional program would only include 21 million additional Americans. The math shows it would cost $47,616 per person to insure just another 21 million Americans. Sams Club has a health insurance policy they sell $350 a month with a $1,000 deductable and $30 co-pay for a 52 year old male. This would cost $4,200 in premiums and $1,000 in deductibles a year for a total cost of $5,200 per person. Insuring 21,000,000 Americans at $5200 a year would total $109,200,000,000 a year. The co-pays can be pay upon need. A program costing $1 Trillion compared to $109 Billion performing the same thing is no bargain. Actually the Sam Club insurance may be better than what the government is offering for about a 90% cheaper cost. There are other programs as for a plan for a 24 year old male for $250 with a $1,000 deductable and this would cost $3,000 a year plus $1,000 for a total of $4,000 a year or about 20% less than the plan above.

I have heard that the bill for Health Care Reform does not affect the members of the Congress and Senate. If this is true, why isn't this being made an issue. If it is good enough for us, it should be good enough for them. What's next? A bill to do away with our currency, because too much Federal and State revenue is hidden under the table. Think of all the savings if we went to a cashless, all electronic currency.
